History of Bundi Festival

One of the most famous tourist places in Rajasthan is Bundi. A best attraction for tourists is the rich history of Bundi. It is called “Chhoti Kashi” means little Varanasi because it has many temples. A treat to the eye is the magnificent architecture and also a number of palaces in Bundi. A former Meena king, Bundi derived its name from Bunda Meena as per history. It came under the rule of Chauhan rulers in the 12th century. The Chauhan transformed it into their power’s center soon after. From 12th century onwards, Bundi was also ruled by the Hadas. Kota also came under their rule in the 1264 year. Over the years its importance dipped by a considerable level and it was deprived of a large area in the 1579 year.

The name is Bundi was previously known “Bunda- Ka- Nal” meaning of Nal is “narrow ways”. Bundi organized on to its independent status during this period. The region of alienated became the state of Jhalwar in 1838. The rich history and the variety of attractions of Bundi will make the tour a wonderful and experience is memorable. Rajasthan’s Bundi festival program includes procession or Shobha Yatra, competition of bridal attire, ethnic sports, performance of fold dance and cultural programs.

By Road: From Jaipur, by road, Bundi is around 210 km and from Sawai Madhopur which is about 110 km. From Kota, easily accessible by road is Jhalawar, Bundi and Baran.
By Train: Kota is the nearest railway station which is connected on the railway line of broad gauge on the route of Delhi- Mumbai.
By Air: Jaipur is the nearest airport.
