An excellent example of the Thar Desert’s ecosystem and its rich fauna is the Desert National Park. The most ideal place for observing wildlife is the Sudashri forest post in the Desert National Park. From less than the park’s 20 % sand dunes which consists of compact salt lake bottoms, craggy rocks and pavements, fixed dunes and area of inter medial. One of the largest national parks is Desert National Park which is spread over an area of 3162 km. Another common antelope is the blackbuck of this region. The ideal place for observing the Desert National Park’s wildlife is the Sudashri Forest post.

Its desert fox, wolf, desert cat, blackbuck, hare, wolf and chinkara are included inhabitants. From sunrise onwards, a flight of sand frouse begins to waterholes. Also one hears the grey partridge’s morning call. Commonly found around waterholes are green bee- eaters and blue tailed, bush quail, common and drongos and birds are Indian rollers. Also home to the great Indian Bustard is Desert National Park which is extinction’s peril. Near Sudashri water hole, good to see five or six bustards is Desert National Park.

Padam Talao Lake, Rajbaugh Lake and Milak Talao Lake these are three main lakes in this park. The major watering holes for the national park’s inhabitants are these lakes. The park’s rich flora consists of Palm Trees, Salai, Dhok, Ronj and Bear. The sand dunes are covering approx 20 % area of the park. From the different features of the Desert National Park’s landscape, bottom of compact salt lake and craggy rocks, fixed dunes and area of inter medial. Spectacular and vivid is birdlife in this sand habitat. Birds are commonly seen like bee- eaters, shrikes, sand grouse, larks and partridges. In the winter, arrive at Demoiselle Crane and Houbara.

Here, kestrels and falcons, long legend and buzzard of honey, Steppe Eagles and tawny are the birds of prey seen but the great Indian bustard is the most amazing of the avifauna. The best place for spotting the Desert National Park’s wildlife is a forest post Sudashri which is located in the park and gives ideal conditions for snapshots. Near Sudashri water hole, a good sight for bird lovers to see five or six bustards is Desert National Park. Some of the animals that oblige the tourists with an occasional visit are the Desert Cat, Desert Fox, Black Buck and Wolf. A splendid bird found in number of relatively fair is the endangered great Indian bustard.
