This sanctuary is situated close to Chapar town of Churu district of Rajasthan’s Northwestern in the Shekhawati region of India. It is also home to a variety of birds and is known for blackbucks.

-Further, it divided into two parts of small sanctuary by State Highway of Chapar- Sujangarh.
-Not divided into Buffer and Core such other parks.

History and Background

Maharaja of Bikaner’s a Private Hunting Reserve was a Prior to Independence Tal Chapper. In the Sanctuary Black Buck’s population has changed drastically since introduction of their 1959 – 175, 1962 – 250, 1972 – 323, 1987 – 949, 1990 – 2006 – 1500 – 1750 approx.

Legal Status

Wild Animals under section 5 notified as Sanctuary and on May 11, 1966 Bird Protection Act 1951. Sanctuary of Tal Chapper’s right has been settled by Churu vide of District collector. Being managed as per the approved Management Plan’s provision is Tal Chapper Sanctuary.

A major tourist destination is Tal Chapper. This would also open up the employment chance doors for the locals with the foreign and domestic tourists’ inflow to the sanctuary. Over burden the zone’s geology is obscured by the blown of wind. Exposed slate’s rock and quartzite and some small hillocks are found in the western side of the sanctuary. The Tal Chapper is situated in the Rajasthan’s North- East part which lies in the Sujangarh Tehsil of Churu District. It is situated from Churu at a distance of 85 km and from Bikaner it’s about 132 km which lies on state Highway of Nokha- Sujangarh. The Tal Chapper Wildlife Sanctuary comes alive with the thousand’s pretty color of migratory birds, Hen Harriers, especially the harriers, Pale Harriers, including Harrier of Montagur and Marsh Harriers which truly paradise of bird lover.

How to Reach

By Road: This sanctuary is lies on the state highway of Nokha Surjangarh which is located at a distance of 85 km from Churu & about 132 from Bikaner.
By Train: Chapper is the nearest railhead which lies on Degana- Churu- Rewari line of North Western Railways.
By Air: Sanganer (Jaipur) is the nearest airport which is from Chapper at a distance of 215 km.
